Mission & Vision

Go therefore and make disciples...

Our Mission

Missio Dei: The mission of God
-“We glorify God through obedience to the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

Missio Ecclesiae: The mission of Mariposa Baptist Church
-Intentionally knowing (Romans 2:18,12:2; Ephesians 5:7) and doing God’s will (John 7:17; 1 John 2:17; Ephesians 6:6, 1 Peter 4:2)

Our Vision

-At Mariposa Baptist Church, we aspire to make disciples (Matthew 28:9-10) by loving God (Deuteronomy 6:5), loving the Church (John 13:35, 1 John 4:11; Romans 12:10), and loving our community (Luke 10:25-37)
God is our Purpose
Christ is our Principle
The Holy Spirit is our Power

Our Core Values

Humble
We recognize our sinfulness (Romans 3:10, 7:7-11). We know that we do nothing to earn God’s unmerited favor (grace) (Ephesians 2:8-9). We know that apart from God’s grace we are bound for eternal death (Romans 3:24-25). In recognizing God’s grace, we know that His grace abounds (Romans 5:20). All who bear the image of God can come to know Him through confession and faith (Romans 10:9) in accordance with God’s will (John 1:12-13). We recognize that we can never know all there is to know about God
 (1 Corinthians 13:12), so we remain teachable (2 Timothy 2:24; James 3:13)
Faithful
We never tire in our task to proclaim the gospel (2 Thessalonians 3:13, 2 Corinthians 4:1). We keep showing up in every circumstance (1 Corinthians 4:2, Galatians 5:22). We never stop learning. We are committed to our task. We abide in Jesus (John 15:5) by engaging in the spiritual disciplines (Scripture, Worship, Prayer, Fellowship, Service and Evangelism)
United
We act with one heart and one mind (Philippians2:2). While we may not always agree on every point, we are united in our mission and doctrine. We rally behind Biblical truth. We recognize that God has called us to be a community of believers (Psalm 133:1-3). We are one church, with many members, pursuing the same mission (1 Corinthians 12)
Loving
We love God. We love God's truth. We love one another, and we love all who bear the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Christ is our example in love, laying down His life that others might live eternally (John 15:13)
Intentional
We do things on purpose (Colossians 4:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The Bible is our guide. (2 Timothy 3:16-19) We look for opportunities to be vessels of God’s grace. We recognize that our calling is to plant and water, but it is up to God to give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-8). We make disciples who make disciples (2 Timothy 2:2)
Balanced
We recognize that we must hold all of these values at the same time, equally. One value cannot be more or less important than the others (Ecclesiastes 3).
